Tabs
A tab is one layout of panes. It exists as long as it holds a pane: when you close its last pane, the tab closes too.
| To | Do |
|---|---|
| Open a tab | Ctrl+Shift+T, the + in the top bar, or isc tab new. The new tab opens a shell in the project's root. If the project has no root, it opens where the pane in front is. |
| Switch | Click the tab; Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab; Ctrl+PageDown / Ctrl+PageUp; isc tab next, isc tab prev, isc tab select TAB. |
| Close | The cross that appears on the tab, a middle click on the tab, Ctrl+Shift+Q, or isc tab close [TAB]. The window asks first. |
| Move | Ctrl+Shift+PageUp / Ctrl+Shift+PageDown; isc tab move TAB INDEX, counted from 0; or drag the tab onto another. |
| Name | The pencil on its sidebar row, or isc tab rename TAB NAME. |
- Closing a tab closes every pane in it. The window shows what would end and asks first;
isc tab closedoesn't ask. - When you drag a tab onto another, it takes that tab's place and the others shift along. While you carry a tab over another, the tab under the pointer is outlined. If you drop it anywhere else, nothing moves.
- A tab in the strip shows the icon of its focused pane's program, the number of panes when there are several, and its name or that pane's title. It shows a state mark only when one of its panes needs you.
- You can't select a tab by its number from the keyboard.
